QUADTREE COMPRESSION EXPLORER

To experiment with the interactive demonstration, load the SWARMADA simulator.

Type 'Q' for QUADTREE to see the nodal compression.

These controls are active:

  • Q KEY toggles the view between original and nodally compressed terrain.
  • TOLERANCE slider adjusts the maximum elevation variation in a single node.
  • CEILING slider sets the lower boundary of the no fly zone.
  • Readouts show the compression efficiency.
  • GUIDE MAP can be used to select terrain.
SWARMADA data files have various resolutions. Some models have 10,000 points per square kilometer (Snake River). Others have only a single point (Western Hemisphere.).  Denser data will have far better compression ratios
