QUADTREE
COMPRESSION EXPLORER
To experiment with the interactive demonstration, load the
SWARMADA simulator.
Type 'Q' for QUADTREE to see the nodal
compression.
These controls are active:
- Q KEY toggles the view between original
and nodally compressed terrain.
- TOLERANCE slider adjusts the maximum elevation
variation in a single node.
- CEILING slider sets the lower boundary of the no
fly zone.
- Readouts show the compression efficiency.
- GUIDE MAP can be used to select terrain.
SWARMADA
data files have various resolutions. Some models have 10,000 points per square
kilometer (Snake River). Others have only a single point (Western
Hemisphere.). Denser data will have far
better compression ratios . |
